Leningrad Cowboys - Total Balalaika Show

In 1989, Finnish director Aki Kaurismaki helmed a film called LENINGRAD COWBOYS GO AMERICA, which followed the fortunes of a foreign rock & roll band as they toured the USA. A sizeable cult hit, the film picked up many plaudits and helped establish Kaurismaki as a name to watch. In 1994, Kaurismaki focused his attention on the Leningrad Cowboys once again, as they played a remarkable show to celebrate the ending of the Cold War. The Alexandrov Red Army Ensemble also played, with the two wildly different acts pulling an incredible crowd of 70,000 people.
